Dear Friends and Family:
Just a quick update to let you know that I haven't fallen into the Danube River, but am alive and well in Austria. I leave on Sunday (April 10) for another trip and am travelling most of April and a good bit of May. So, I thought I'd better write and bring you up to speed on life and ministry with me.
OM Europe Work
From April 10-15, I'll be in England to help train and equip a 3-member Europe Presentation Team that leaves April 16 for a six-week trip to Australia. This is a project that I've been working on since September and have been responsible for coordinating/organizing and working on materials/communications for the team. I will not be going to Australia; the team is Adinda (from Holland working in the UK), Anton (from Russia working in Russia), and Kukka-Maaria (from Finland working in Kosovo). The purpose of this trip is to promote OM's work throughout Australia and to raise up more workers from "down under'
to come "up yonder" to Europe to serve the Lord. I am excited to see what the Lord will do during this trip and appreciate your prayers (see below).
The last week of April, I will go to Switzerland for OM Europe meetings. As I have mentioned in previous updates, I have been spending a lot of time over the last year working on a communications plan for promoting OM's work throughout the whole of Europe. The Europe Presentation Team is one of the projects in this plan, as well as a brochure, web site and other promotional materials.
In May, I return to the UK to attend OM's international communications forum, a yearly meeting that I've attended since 2002.
This is always a great week for me to reconnect with other communications people working for OM throughout the world. Following those meetings, I am planning to visit OM's international coordinating team, located in a different part of England, to get training and have meetings with different folks.
After this spate of trips, I plan to focus more on Eastern Europe and visit some of the teams there. I will go to Czech Republic and Bosnia in July and am trying to work out a visit to Romania and the Balkans.
It's good for me to visit the teams, participate in their ministries, and get a first-hand look at what they're doing and more importantly, what the Lord is doing in this part of the world. I still consider it a privilege to do this work, and appreciate your partnership in order to do it.
Visit to the U.S.
I was in the States for about a month in February/March for a variety of reasons, splitting my time between Kentucky, Virginia and Georgia.
I attended OM USA's new recruits conference in Atlanta to represent Central and Eastern Europe. This is the same conference that I attended in early 2001 before I joined OM. I enjoyed being there, talking with potential OM'ers, and sharing about God's work in my part of the world. From that conference, we have three women planning to join our teams in Ukraine, Albania and Bosnia. Praise God for these new workers!!!
The other purpose for the trip home was simply for a break...to spend time with my home church, family and friends, to get out of Europe and have time in an English-speaking country :-), catch my breath, get some rest, and to pray about and work through plans for the future. The time home was great, but too short :-). It always is, but I'm always grateful for the opportunity to get home and feel very blessed by OM for giving me this break.
I am still praying about and sorting through my options for the future. Please remember me in your prayers.
Church Friends Visiting :-)
On April 16, my pastor and missions chairman (Jeff Good and Jeff
Gufstafson) from my home church in Ashburn, VA, arrive in Vienna to spend a week with me. We've been planning this trip for some time and I'm excited that it's finally worked out. The primary purpose of the trip is more for exposures to OM's work in Central Europe and especially with the GE team in Austria and the OM teams in Czech Republic and Hungary, whom I have spent a lot of time with over the last year. (I guess they'll be checking up on me, so if you're reading this and work for OM Czech or Hungary, please make me sound good :-))!!!
As always, I deeply appreciate your friendship, prayers, support and love for me as I follow God on this journey and adventure. My prayer is that you experience the love of God and His wonderful blessings and surprises!"
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Phillipians 4:6-7
With much love,
Becky/Rebecca
Prayer Points:
1. Please pray for the Europe Presentation Team (Adinda, Anton and
Kukka-Maaria) that the Lord would use them to raise up Aussies to serve Him throughout Europe.
2. Pray for safety and good health during my upcoming trips, as
mentioned above.
3. Pray for God's clear direction regarding my future and decisions
that I need to make.
